Greetings, fellow reality hackers [18 Apr 2010|11:02am]

chaoslab
Greetings, and thank you for providing such an interesting and original community.

This account is the laboratory manual charting the reality engineering experiments of the user called chaosphaere. She dominantly practices using urban influences and modern myths and symbols, but is interested in the traditional manners of hacking reality as well.

She makes it up as she goes along and is inspired by anthropology, Myers Briggs, industry, waste, science fiction, bits of magick picked up along the way, the music of Tool, song lyrics as incantations, magickal crafting and art, pop culture magick, and various blah blah blah.

Now, to step back into first person. Despite my chief magickal inspiration and usernames, I don't call myself anything but a "reality hacker".

I find identity to be tyranny, it has baggage and shapes behavior, and to claim an identity is to take up the groupthink of that group. I also practice a lot of Buddhist stuff and worldview (which is the foundation for much of my magick) but don't call myself a Buddhist.

I keep my BOS on this livejournal account using a Motorola Droid (most of it's private). This is a new account, most of my real activity is over at chaosphaere (most of it mundane) until I'm done porting my grimoire and journal over here.

I'm secular. My dominant practice is Etheric Circuitry (my own system) but I play with all manner of modalities and traditions and borrow recklessly.

Would it be appropriate to post about Etheric Circuitry here?

I'm a Libertarian and eat meat (this seems relevant in some pagan circles). I don't work with two or more energies at once, only one which has both polarities of "positive" and "negative", so I guess this makes me a monotheist of a sort.

As chaosphaere, I'm a member of nonfluffymagic and nonfluffypagans but don't subscribe to the fluffy/nonfluffy dichotomy (in fact I'm working on creating a Fluffy Bunny ritual to offer a devotion to the Fluffy Bunny... anyone have any ideas? I'm still seeing Easter stuff for sale, so that'll help).

I enjoy long walks on the beach and feel as comfortable in high heels and a cocktail dress as I do in jeans... oops that's my personal ad.

Nice to meet all of you!

The Four Cornerstones of Magick [11 Feb 2010|02:41pm]

of_unsound_mind
In addition to the principles of Similarity and Contagion, most practitioners adhere to the four cornerstones of magick. These four principles are expressed in the ability to know, to will, to dare, and to keep silent.
1. To Know
This refers to knowledge about magick and what makes it work. The practitioner must know and understand the basic working principles of a magickal operation before he or she attempts it. There is a saying in magick that knowledge is power, so if the practitioner wants power, then he or she must first have knowledge.
2. To Will
This is the ability to concentrate, focus attention, and direct the will to manifest desire. Practitioners must be able to force their will upon the universe, in a positive and powerful way, to accomplish their desires. In magick, practitioners must be able to control their surroundings, which include the mind and body.
3. To Dare
This is the courage to challenge ideas. Magicians must be able to stand up for what they believe in and be able to demand their rights. They must dare to have the courage to make their will manifest desire, without fear or doubt. The magician must be able to command respect from his or her peers, as well as from the forces with which they work. They must dare to be strong.
4. To Keep Silent
This is by far the hardest of the four rules. The practitioner must shut out, and off, all outside distractions and learn to concentrate and focus. Silence also has a partner, the mouth. The well-trained magician knows how to keep it shut and not crow about every little thing she does. This is because every time she speaks of the magickal works she is doing, she dissipates her energy and power. This is why you don’t hear Witches and magicians bragging about what they did or are doing.

From a Metaphysical perspective there might be some differences in characteristics and communications between each Angelic Group, but for the most part Pagan Metaphysics holds a similar definition of these angels as is held by non-Pagan religions.

Concerning my last post... [28 Jan 2010|11:48am]

My last post was met with some amount of hostility, and while some of the feedback was harsh I feel it was well deserved. Nothing drives me more than criticism. That said, I have revised the article into a manner that I hope is less dogmatic and just more informative.

After re-reading the article this morning, as I was trying to tweak it, I found many sections where my own fears and anger of past circumstances were glaring me in the face. This is not my intention for Craft Haven--to rant, and point fingers. I merely wish to be educational and to provide comfort to those seeking it. I will be more diligent here on out to make sure that I do not offend people. I am not naive in thinking that I can please everyone, but these past few hours have shown me that I can do much better.

If you wish to read the revised article, please refer to my last post for the link.

The Body-Raising Pose (Arohandsana) [27 Jan 2010|07:19pm]

of_unsound_mind
Technique:
1. Start by lying flat on the floor.
2. Interlock your fingers and place your hands behind your head, just above the. neck.
3. Take a deep breath, and simultaneously raise your head, shoulders and legs off the floor, keeping the knees straight.
4. Maintain this posture for a few seconds while holding the breath, then exhale while slowly returning to the original position.
Time:
Repeat this posture once more. Increase the number of times, very gradually, from two to eight.
Benefits:
This is an excellent exercise for strengthening the abdominal muscles, the pelvic region, the back and the shoulders. It helps reduce abdominal fat and relieves constipation.
Caution:
This posture is rather strenuous and should not be done by women suffering from serious female disorders.

Pagan Sexuality [27 Jan 2010|04:40pm]

craft_haven
[ mood | accomplished ]

So recently I wrote an article about pagan sexuality. It was successful to a large degree. My goal was to be as upfront about the subject as I could be. You hear of so many people who mark sex as taboo, or they are at the very least embarrassed about the subject.

Why is this? The idea of sex ranges from an oppressed 'I am a sinner' view, to the carefree 'sex is a hobby' view. Where's the balance? I understand that the majority of people today grow up in households with parents whose best idea to keep their kid from 'promiscuity' is to tell them how wrong and disgusting sex is. What a mind trip!

I was part of a Christian family in my teens. My hormones were running wild around age seventeen. I was already inclined to be a 'rebel' and I can only imagine if my parents told me the above viewpoint. No doubt, I would only have gone to see for myself. Yet, I'm not like everybody. There are some people who take what their parents say as gospel (excuse the pun) and end up with their entire outlook on a life of love, tainted to a depressing degree.

What comes as a surprise is the look on peoples faces when they read that having safe and responsible sex is enjoyable. It widens peoples eyes with an expression of, "really?". Yes, really. Outside of being a responsible, loving adult, I don't feel that their should be any other sex rule. Sex is natural and should be enjoyed, not shunned. You shouldn't have to feel bad about it.

There are many other avenues I discussed in the article. If you would like to read it, just click here.

Greetings! [26 Jan 2010|01:39pm]

craft_haven
[ mood | accomplished ]

Hello everyone! This is officially my first post to this community, so I thought I would introduce myself. My pen/craft name is Marcus Briarstone, and I am a writer for a pagan informational website known as Craft Haven.

I am male, 26 years of age, and identify myself as an eclectic pagan. I do not follow a specific path as I find courage, strength, and harmony with most forms of earthen spirituality. I write to inform people of pagan history, celebrations, recipes, spells, and ultimately our common ground with many other faiths. It is through such that I find a sense of contentment; I drive myself to constantly update the website and provide accurate information through it, as well as my tweets on Twitter, and my posts here on Livejournal.

The website is a baby for now. There is a ton of work to do. My goal is to have it fully fleshed out with several hundred articles by the end of this summer--accurate and thought provoking articles.

I hope you all have a grand day. Thank you for reading this.

Manipura Meditation [26 Jan 2010|10:45am]

of_unsound_mind
From Chakra Therapy, by Keith Sherwood

In the Manipura meditation, you will have the opportunity to get in touch with the awareness that transcends conscious mind. In this meditation you will get in touch with that transcendental self that allows you to participate and empathize with other people, and to connect deeply with them. By experiencing the radiations of the third chakra consciously, you will transcend “me” concerns and experience the selflessness that permits you to connect with other people and to feel the deep contentment associated with that connection.

EXAMPLES OF ESP [25 Jan 2010|09:14pm]

of_unsound_mind
ESP, the abreviation for extra sensory perception, means the reception of information through paranormal means (ie. not regular physical senses of sight, sound, touch, smell, or taste). In theory, this is accomplished by receiving psychic force from outside the body. Here are some examples of ESP: Read more...Collapse )

To be honest, me posting all the time is getting kinda boring. I want to have it change up, so please post. Questions, comments, discussions, information, random correspondences, whatever it is that remains on topic. Please post!

I'll continue my posts but they are going to be much more sporadic....I've got a lot going on and i can't always get on my computer for free time.

Svadhisthana Meditation [14 Jan 2010|12:30pm]

of_unsound_mind
From Chakra Therapy, by Keith Sherwood

To begin the Svadhisthana meditation, find a comfortable position with your back straight. Close your eyes and begin breathing yogically. Breathe deeply through your nose without separation between inhalation and exhalation and feel yourself relaxing. Take your time and become conscious of your body by following your breath for about five minutes. After five minutes, bring your attention to your second chakra, right above your sexual organs. Then bring your breath to your second chakra. On each inhalation, feel the energy centered in your sexual organs increasing. You will feel it as a heat and intensity that will grow stronger on each inhalation. As it grows stronger, visualize the energy there as a ball of orange energy. Experience and visualize it growing stronger and brighter for about two or three minutes.

Yoga Mudra, The Stoop (Symbol of Yoga) [07 Jan 2010|10:34am]

of_unsound_mind
The practice of this posture is considered very important for its spiritual value in the higher stages of Yoga training when the pose is maintained for as long as one hour or more. The physical effect of the Yoga Mudra is mainly internal purification, as it helps keep our system clean by promoting a good elimination. To do the Yoga Mudra you must first sit down in the Lotus Posture.

Angelic Hierarchy [02 Jan 2010|11:43am]

Hierarchy and Choirs
As with the rest of the universe, the angels exist in a hierarchy. There is a form and order to the universe and the Divine Forces. The Angel community is the perfect example of this order and structure. The kingdom is divided into Hierarchies and Choirs. Each section of the community has it's own particular purpose and energy.

An amulet consists of any object intended to bring good luck and/or protection to its owner. Potential amulets include: gems, especially engraved gems, statues, coins, drawings, pendants, rings, plants, animals, etc.; even words said in certain occasions to repel evil or bad luck. Wherever an amulet is worn, the closer it is to the body, the more powerful its magic.

Here is a list of common amulets and talismans and their usesCollapse )
